Title: The Next 4 Billion: Market Size & Business Strategy at the Base of the Pyramid

Speaker: William J. Kramer, Deputy Director, Development Through Enterprise Program, World Resources Institute

Description: The thesis that private sector engagement with low-income populations is good both for business and for economic development has been the subject of a number of popular business books by academics including Stuart Hart  and C.K. Prahalad.  Until now, the private sector approach has been characterized largely by theories buttressed with some intriguing business examples.  Now comes the first data-driven look at the BOP from the World Resources Institute, based on unique access to national household surveys.  What do the data reveal?
