Session Title:
Connectivity
Description:

Innovative business and service models with cellular platforms
Cell phone use is growing very rapidly in developing countries, with the number of subscribers expected to reach 500 million in China, India, and Brazil alone in 2005. A significant part of that growth going forward will be in low income communities. This session will examine three innovative models for reaching BOP markets. Moreover, cell phones are becoming mobile information kiosks, transaction platforms, and even computing or multi-media platforms, potentially bringing new and valuable services to low income markets. What lies ahead, and what is needed to accelerate the benefits that cellular platforms can bring?
