Activity Description: Launched in January 2003, the US$4 million Uganda Energy Fund - a partnership between Shell Foundation and Dfcu Leasing - provides both business development services and lease finance to SMEs in the pro-poor energy sector. Shell Uganda acts as a special adviser to Dfcu Leasing, providing no-cost support to market the Fund, train staff from Dfcu Leasing and share skills with eligible SMEs. Thus far (2005), 345 pro-poor enterprises have received financing through this program, generated over 1000 jobs.
