EXPANSION of integrated programming to improve the reproductive health and general development of young people in Abia state has taken a new turn in the state capital following the inauguration of a 15-member Technical Working Group (TWG).

The goal of the programme, which is facilitated and funded by the Ford Foundation with collaboration with the state government, is “to deepen partnership for promoting the reproductive health and socio-economic well being of young people in the south east zone of Nigeria.”

The TWG is to ensure strategic coordination of the activities and outcomes of the project and the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the action plan, identify and harmonize their priorities, discuss and address technical issues including improving the utilization of resources to implement the action plan among others.

While inaugurating the TWG, the state Health Commissioner, Dr Okechukwu Ogah, described the programme which is effected in partnership with Forward Africa (FOFA) as timely saying that it is to provide information to the young people on health matters in view of the difficulties the young people’s pass through in accessing health care due to what he said was their timidity, misinformation and other peculiar problems.
