About the Organization:

The Global Impact Investing Network is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the development of an effective impact investing industry.  Impact investing is the use of for-profit investment to help solve critical social and environmental problems around the world.  The GIIN addresses systemic barriers to effective impact investing by building critical infrastructure and developing activities, education, and research that attract more investment capital to the sector.

The Investors' Council is one of the three key strategic initiatives at the GIIN.  The Investors' Council is a diverse group of leading impact investors committed to developing an effective impact investing industry.  Members include large-scale family offices, diversified financial institutions, institutional investors, specialized banks, targeted impact funds, and private foundations.  The GIIN manages this group to accelerate learning about new investment opportunities, facilitate the sharing of lessons learned, highlight and spread best practices, and enable opportunities for collaboration and co-investment among members.  The Investors' Council offers a range of programs that serve the full membership, and also forms specific working groups to address members' interest around a geographic region, sector or investment approach.

The first working group, Project Terragua, is comprised of a group of members who are focused on increasing equitable and sustainable investment in agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa.  The working group offers investors a platform to access valuable connections and information  and collaborate on investment opportunities.  Project Terragua also serves as a vehicle to disseminate leading research on sustainable investment in African agriculture, helping to accelerate the flow of additional capital to the sector.
