D.light Design Fellows Program
D.light Design is seeking passionate and talented professionals to contribute to one of the world's leading social enterprises through 6-month+ fellowships. Fellows will be supervised by one of our senior managers and partner with our diverse team across three continents and multiple countries. Each fellow will be a major part of growing a multi-national, one-of-a-kind company that will alter the global landscape.
Information Management Fellowship Description
The Fellow will work in the New Delhi, India office, and will be supervised by the Head of Accounting. The fellowship is for a minimum of 6 months, but individuals who are able to commit to 9 months or more are preferable. The ideal start date is before January 1st, 2010, but this is flexible depending on the candidate. The Fellow will be provided with a small living stipend.
The Information Management Fellow will strengthen and optimize D.light India's information collection, dissemination, and reporting needs. Specifically, the Fellow will be responsible for:
- Evaluate key information management needs and determine priorities in the India
- Work with Sales Management to establish and implement procedure for collecting
- Develop database for storing and managing data; design report templates
- Develop long-term strategic plan for information management and administration
- Assist with hiring full-time employees to administer systems and procedures
- Assist with IT solutions, including networking, data security and storage
- Assess and help design any additional IT solutions that are of interest to the Fellow
- And meet the prioritized needs of the India office
All fellows are expected to be passionate about D.light's mission to develop high quality solutions for families living without adequate electricity. They should be committed to completing their deliverables during the fellowship period and be willing to work long hours.
The Information Management Fellow should also have the following qualifications:
- 2-5 years of professional information management experience in a corporate setting
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in related field
- Demonstrated understanding of sales-related business systems and processes, and how that interfaces with IT solutions
- Extensive knowledge of programming, networks, databases, and information management procedures
- Solid project management and analytical skills
- Strong written and oral English communication skills; Hindi fluency a plus
- Experience working collaboratively with a highly diverse team
- Detail-oriented, highly-motivated, independent worker
- Desire to work in social enterprise
- Enjoys the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of a start-up
- Ability to live in India for the duration of the fellowship
