The intern will assist the Communication Coordinator in the development of communications documents, materials, and activities. The intern will assist the Communications Coordinator with:
- Development of a contact database;
- Writing, designing, delivering two quarterly newsletters;
- Writing, designing GBF fact sheets;
- Collecting, writing, designing, developing of client profiles;
- Editing GBF marketing pieces such as the pitch presentation and concept note;
- Updating, uploading, developing content for GBF Website;
- Maintaining, updating GBF library and office communications;
- Ad hoc assignments.
ESTIMATED TIMETABLE AND TERMS
The position is available now, and will continue through the school year. The intern will be working in GBF’s offices inWashington DC for 18 hours per week. The intern will be responsible for personal insurance, accommodation, and otherliving expenses while working at GBF.
PROFILE OF SELECTED CANDIDATE
- Working towards a related degree, preferably in communications;
- Reasonable knowledge of, and interest in, the field of social enterprise and grassroots development issues;
- Writing, editing, and proof-reading skills; website development, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign experience preferred;
- Good ability to work alone, take initiative, and yet avoid overstepping bounds;
- Ability to work under pressure and manage and prioritize several disparate tasks simultaneously and effectively;
- High level of written and oral presentation skills in English;
- Good interpersonal and social skills and ability to encourage team spirit; a good motivator
