Dear Abigail,

My hat is off to this post, which cannot be more timely. As a Colombian young citizen, I am deeply concerned about the course the region is likely to take. If Venezuela chooses to support Chavez´s reforms next Sunday, the whole system that was discussed in the conference will be at grave peril, as will the hopes of many of us who wish to prepare and take an active role in closing the gap you mention in the brilliant paragraph regarding macro level policies and the level execution.

Although they do not seem as urgent at first sight, the challenges faced by many in Latin America are at least as great as those in African countries. We need more and more discussion about potential solutions suited to the region. I am thrilled you attended the conference and thank you for putting LA in the spotlight. Look forward to reading and discussing more on the subject in the near future. <br class="clear" />
