We have updated our mobile phone banking and mobile commerce solutions video and posted it at www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo3rXPHAzrY&eurl= RBAP also recently launched a website which provides an overview of m-banking services now being offered by rural banks in the Philippines at www.mobilephonebanking.rbap.org This site also includes a list of all the rural bank branches in the Philippines that are offering m-banking services and the growing list of registered merchants now accepting m-payments in the form of Gcash. There are now some 37 banks offering mobile phone banking services and mobile commerce solutions in the Philippines and the number of users is continuing to expand.

Activity Description:

The Philippine firm Globe Telecom recently announced G-Cash service for its Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers. The 'electronic wallet' feature allows users to send and receive cash and make payments, including bill payments, donations, and online purchases, via texting.

Globe charges a flat fee of Php10.00 for any transaction below Php1,000. For transactions above Php1,000 the fee is 1% of the amount.
