There's a Right Way and a Wrong Way - China in Africa

Elizabeth Economy and Karen Monaghan write in the International Herald Tribune (The perils of Beijing's Africa strategy) that China is quickly creating blowback in Africa despite its purportedly "hands off politics" approach. You would be hard-pressed to design a more anti-BOP strategy than much of what China is doing - obsessively chasing resources for China's own benefit, without regard for the environment or the interests of local populations; bringing in its own workforce so little money even reaches the citizens of the country where they are operating. China clearly needs some fast education on sustainability and corporate responsibility. Chinese leaders, we're an NGO....and we're here to help.

IMO, The China government is way too corrupt to handle anything like this. Like most governments on this planet, we need to avoid their government.

As far as I know China and India have the most polluting economies. One reason is because they have a growing economy and another one is because they have no respect for environment. Their only concern is money. But why do I speak of China here when US hasn’t sign the treaty regarding the planet pollution! (Bouquets, http://www.serenataflowers.com/category_items/6.htm)

Some (certainly not all but some) of the division in the US electorate over environmental issues is caused by the suspicion that people who care about the environment are inherently anti-American in some way. Your comment only reinforces this paranoia when you correctly state that China and India should be scrutinized due to their lack of environmental conscience - But then you let them off the hook by reflexively bashing the US for not ratifying KP. You speak of China here when the US hasn't "signed" the treaty because China and India HAVE ratified the treaty yet they continue to abuse world resources. The US clearly has THE premier environmental conscience in the world. I'm not afraid to waive the flag when it's made with hemp fabric and biodegradable paints. Too much anti-US sentiment will only harm the environment in the long run.

The largest emitter of pollutants into the air is still the US. The largest emitters per capita are still first world countries. Yes, China's economy has been racing at 10 percent a year and the second largest user of oil but they are only the second largest emitter of pollutions in the world. And per capita...the number they release is trivial in comparison.
