Executive Search for the BOP

If I'm a CEO of a traditional firm that is looking for an executive to target the BOP, or a social investor looking to hire a CEO for a social venture -- how do I do it?

I think the answer today is a lot of networking. (Are there other options?) Is this a potential opportunity for WRI?

Editor's note: I think Jim is right - right now it boils down to a lot of networking. We've been tossing around the idea of creating a space on Nextbillion for people offering or seeking jobs focused on the BOP. Is this something people would find useful? I think there's never enough of networking opportunities. We will have more hats thrown into the ring at NextBillion's site, a jumping ground as good as any. Am all for it.

As a soon-to-be university graduate seeking out jobs pertaining to the BOP and socially and environmentally responsible business, I would very much appreciate a means of networking with individuals and/or companies working in the field.

I agree that networking is the path now but a centralized, BoP specific site would be great. Idealist.org is very broad, as is the Net Impact site. As a soon-to-be MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell with a fantastic BoP job at S.C. Johnson and real BoP experience, networking was the only means I knew of or used. It worked for me, but as the BoP field grows it will be more difficult and both sides of the search could use a central depository.

Any tips for an undergraduate who wants to get into the BoP field? Is a masters degree pretty much mandatory? I would like to eventually pursue an advanced degree but would like to get out there and get a bit of work experience first.
