Yearly Roundup: VOTE for the Most Influential Post of 2013

Here’s a number for you: 585.

That’s how many blog posts (including this one) that NextBillion.net published in 2013. It’s about 130 posts more than we served up in 2012. This isn’t just a volume game. We launched two new theme-focused blogs in the last 13 months, NextBillion Health Care and NextBillion Financial Innovation, deftly managed by my esteemed colleagues James Militzer and Kyle Poplin, respectively.

As a result of these new and focused blogs, we reached out to and welcomed new types of writers along with new ideas that challenged our assumptions, questioned the status quo and tipped more than a couple of sacred cows. This makes selecting a list of the most influential posts of the year a very daunting task.

We thought that the most democratic way to run this contest for The Most-Influential NextBillion Post of 2013, was to simply pick the 12 posts (one per month) that attracted the most views in calendar year 2013. The rest is up to you. We hope you will vote early and often for your favorite(s) among the twelve contenders. You may vote one time per day and you may vote for several posts over the course of the voting period (through Jan. 4).

We also will be re-publishing each of these articles (one per day) starting Monday. But you may skip ahead and check out the full list below, and then please take a moment to cast your vote and share this link with other NB readers, or others who might find it interesting.

Speaking of shares, I also wanted to recognize the most popular NB posts via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Some of these articles are included in the 12 contenders, some aren’t. Scroll down below the poll to check out those posts as well.

As always, I hope this contest introduces you to new perspectives. And thank you to our contributors who offered these perspectives in the first place.
