Sanjoy Sanyal and Pamli Deka
New Ventures India

Sanjoy Sanyal is the Country Director of New Ventures India.New Ventures was incubated as the World Resources Institute’s center for environmental entrepreneurship– providing business development services to environmentally-focused small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets. New Ventures addresses the key barriers to “green” entrepreneurial growth by building in-country support networks for environmental enterprises and increasing their access to finance.

 

Sanjoy has been involved with New Ventures India since 2009 and has been particularly active in helping green entrepreneurs from India raise funding from a network of investors both based in India and overseas.

 

Before his current assignment, Sanjoy was the COO of Vubites, a media technology company which was a part of Rediff.com. and Vice President – Professional Services with SumTotal systems, a global leader in the Talent Management software product space. His entrepreneurial experiences include co-founding and running Aesthetic Technologies, an interactive content creation company, He has also worked for large public companies: ICICI and ITC Classic.

 

Sanjoy is an active member of the TiE and hosts the annual Jumpstart your Enterprise, a workshop for entrepreneurs at the TiE ISB Conference.He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and has post graduate qualifications in business from the India Institute of Management.

 

 

 

Pamli Dekais a research consultant at New Ventures India. She brings 9 years of experience in the energy industry across multiple functions. Her core area of focus is the Clean Energy Access work of New Ventures, to build partnerships for social enterprises with investors, banks and corporations. She is also involved in developing tools for helping address the challenges of end user finance and marketing and distribution.

 

With New Ventures India, she has also worked on energy efficiency and renewable energy projects to assess the potential of energy efficiency and renewable energy products for multiple sectors. She has co-authored the report on “Integrating Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in the Transmission and Distribution Grids of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.”

 

Prior to New Ventures India, Pamli was a consultant in Shell and the Boston Consulting Group. Pamli has worked in the oil fields with Schlumberger. She was covering climate change/clean technology companies listed on LSE/AIM (London) as an Equity Analyst with Execution Noble.

 

Pamli has an MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Technology degree in the department of Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
