Elizabeth Derby is a senior at Northwestern University studying Political Science with a minor in History. Her senior thesis is focused on the topic of how social movements use the media, in particular the internet, to organize and reach their goals. She worked as one of the Media and Marketing Co-Chairs for the 2011 Global Engagement Summit (www.theGES.org), a five-day long conference for emerging social entrepreneurs. In addition to GES, Elizabeth works with several other social justice student groups on campus. She enjoys traveling, painting, and reading by Lake Michigan.
