Activity Description: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) was established by the SMEDAN Act of 2003 to promote the development of the MSME sector of the Nigerian Economy.

The Agency positions itself as a "One Stop Shop" for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development. Micro Enterprises are included in the clientele of the Agency since they form the bedrock for SME’s.

Vision
To establish a structured and efficient micro, small and medium enterprises sector that will enhance sustainable development of Nigeria.

Mission
To facilitate the access of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs/investors to all resources required for their development.
Justification for our existence. Poverty, due to lack of access to income-earning opportunities and lack of capacity to take advantage of the opportunities, is a social malaise that is threatening global prosperity in general and national economic growth and development in particular.

A well developed MSMEs sector has proven to be one of the most veritable channels to combat poverty. The establishment of SMEDAN is therefore justified by the need to trigger the development of Nigeria’s MSMEs in a structured and efficient manner.

I RESIDE in Abeokuta, the State capital of Ogun State where there is no Support Service Centre of SMEDAN despite the State Government effort in creating enterpreneurs through policies enunciated via Ogun State Employment Generation Programme (OGEGEP)in line with the AGENDA FOR THE SECURED FUTURE of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel's led Admnistration. I WORK in LEAD Resources (Learning, Enterprise, and Development) whose goal is to help individual and corporate bodies alike to be the the best they desire and aspire to be by using lateral knowledge and world class tools. LEAD is rich in human and techno-material resources to be a SMEDAN Support Service Centre in Abeokuta. Thank you as we look forward to hear from SMEDAN.

I shall comment on your effort so far in promoting the small and medium scale industrialists. But my comment is base on the partnership between National Board for Technbology Incubation and SMEDAN. Presently I am incubating my research with the Tecnology Incubation Centre, Uyo and my aim is to commercialise my research which is the production of neem organic pesticides that are enviromentally friendly and non toxic. So can one get help from SMEDAN?

For some weeks now, I have been trying to find a drycleaning outfit or organisation here in NIgeria, where i can go to attend a course, or to understudy, in order to expand my small laundry business, but this has proved abortive so far. Please can SMEDAN help me out in any way? thanks.

Could you please, let me know how your organization can help small scale fish farmers like us. since the federal government is spending so much on importation of fish when small farmers like us is encouraged it will go a long way, as my pond has a capacity for 40,000 pices of fully grown catfish if we have four of such in each LGA of the 774 in the country i think it will be a great development.

The Nigerian Economic has long ago dependent on oil sector, with serious neglect on other viable sector like Agriculture and other minerals of higher values. The basis of my comment is to seek the assistance of the Agency in producing materials on Nigerian cash crops sector studies(where it can be found, uses, process and market) with an altimate aim of introducing the process to the business concerns and propectives investor. Best Regards, Gbenga
