Activity Description: The Pakistan Mortgage Guarantee Facility, a $5 million credit enhancement program, enables participating commercial banks in Pakistan to extend mortgages to lower-income citizens, with no current access to home mortgage financing (over 80% of residents in Karachi earn less than $2 per day).

Investors in the program include the Acumen Fund and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), whose combined funding will help release mortgages from the National Bank of Pakistan.

The program is expected to officially launch in March of 2006.

I am quite disappointed that their is not a single solid company or bank who is dealing with this properly. i have emailed to few banks but no one bothers to reply back or some of emails are bounced back with a failure message receipt. regards, khan

Ok Not a surprise that things are not streamlined in the beloved homeland. I like many others did go to all the recommendations on this page but to no avail. So for people who will come after me , save the time none of the websites and email addresses listed here work. The best option is to contact the bank directly by calling the pakistani phone number. Each bank has one person per city/metro who is responsible for home loans. For NBP the scheme is called SAIBAAN and the working liNk is this http://www.nbp.com.pk/Saibaan/markUpSaibaan.htm ..if you click the Contact Saibaan Link you will get the phone numbers of the representative in your area.
