Activity Description:

The International Youth Foundation (IYF) works in nearly 70 countries and territories to improve the conditions and prospects for young people where they live, learn, work, and play. Established in 1990 to bring worldwide resources to young people in need, IYF works with hundreds of companies, foundations, and civil society organizations to strengthen and "scale up" existing programs that are making a positive and lasting difference in young lives. Over the last 15 years, IYF and its global network of in-country partners have helped millions of young people gain access to the life skills, education, job training and opportunities critical to their success.

Welfare Association is a private, non-profit foundation established in Geneva in 1983 to support Palestinian society in sustainable development.

Together, IYF and WA, as well as USAID, have launched IT4Youth, a four-year pilot project aimed at enhancing the learning skills and employability of Palestinian youth (ages 11 to 24), through computer-based information technology. The program, which operates in 14 schools in the areas of Nablus and Jenin, is set to reach more than 7,000 young people annually, as well as 50 teachers and several hundred parents and community members. The direct beneficiaries are secondary school students, as well as young people up to 24 years of age who are not currently in school. A particular emphasis is being placed on expanding access to IT education and training for girls. The initiative is also designed to promote IT use in the community, for education, access to jobs, and recreation opportunities.

It will be critical if IYF could intensify its activities especially in Southern Africa, with a special emphasis on youth entrepreneurship and innovation training and financing. A great deal of untapped economic potential lies in youth, including creative and competitive innovations which are lacking incentives and support to be realised and be turned into competitive products and services. moladi, a South African Company and International supplier for the past 16 years, the pioneer of a one-step casting process for the erection of homes,"...Simply cast a whole house in a day, employing unskilled labour, reducing time, waste and cost, eliminating chasing for plumbing and electrical pipe work, plastering and beam filling, resulting in a wall stronger than brick. A cost effective, holistic design and build technology that far outweighs poorly designed costly concrete-block and masonry structures… In order to be a contender when it comes to delivering 50 or 1,000,000 units, it should be viewed as a “Production Line”, similar to that of the automotive industry. By applying a disciplined approach, logistics, management and a reliable technology such as moladi, a project can be completed on time, in budget without forfeiting quality. We are geared to help and coach TEAMmoladi partners and customers, to become more productive, profitable and gain a competitive advantage. www.moladi.com
