Activity Description: University of Calgary affilitated, Light Up the World Foundation (LUTW) brings ultra-efficient, durable and near permanent White Light Emitting Diodes (WLED) lighting solutions powered by renewable energy to the world's poor in ecologically sensitive and remote rural areas.

LUTW trains and equips NGOs and social organizations to incorporate the LED technology at subsidized prices, with the long term goal of facilitating the development of sustainable local business to manufacture, install, and maintain renewable energy based lighting systems.

Founded in 1997, LUTW is the first humanitarian organization to utilize solid-state lighting technologies and has used the technology to bring light to nearly 10,000 homes in remote and disadvantaged corners of some 27 countries including India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bolivia, Peru and the Philippines.

Hilly & remote locations in india cannot access grid power. As basic lighting is an essential necessity in such rural ,not easily accessible locations, providing basic cost effective solutions for home lighting will be great service.LUTW being a pioneer in this field can it help in tecnology transfer, either on itsown or through any of its technology partners,to nonprofit organisation in india.Micro credit financing to the disadvantaged poor is planned. Can LUTW or any others help  Thanks MOHANRAM
