Activity Description: Watercone is a solar-powered water desalinator that can produce 1 liter of freshwater a day and can last for 5 years. Users pour in salt-water; the magnified heat inside the cone causes the water to evaporate, condense on the sides of the cone, and then to run down the edges into the collection base. This desalinated water can then be poured out the from the screw cap spout at the tip of the cone.

After 5 years of usage, Watercone can then be used to collect rain water, as a roof panel or container for other goods. The Watercone unit is lightweight, self-supporting, and stackable, so it is easy to ship, store, and transport.

The creator hopes that Watercone , combined with microcredit, will stimulate entrepreneurship. Vendors could invest in a dozen Watercones and sell 15 liters of water a day and have their investment returned in no more than half a year.

wonderful. it's time has come here in the states water is already becomeing a huge issue. how to purchase if possible some of my family live in the desert where the gound water is not o k to drink. water for household must be hauled in. at temps of some times over 120 degrees f in the bad times " i see" coming seems a great market there. not sure about the "snow birds" that flock there every winter thanks for any info. some thing is not right in our world. they have cut the water for farmers in calif by one third. severe flooding in some states so bad i fear they've not been able to plant. horrible storms in oklahoma an texas same diff. then the price of fuel will also make a problem of harvesting etc. guess we all need to be prepared !! so hope to purchase
