Awarding Social Entrepreneurship

The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation and The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) are inviting applications for India's Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2008.

Five finalists will be selected following an intensive search and selection process including expert reviews and site visits. The winner will be announced in a ceremony coinciding with the India Economic Summit in November 2008.

Social entrepreneurs are innovators who implement practical and sustainable solutions to address challenges in numerous areas including health, education, environment, access to technology and job creation.

Their primary focus is transformational social change. Social entrepreneurs develop a revenue stream through the sale of products, services, fees or develop key partnerships to achieve sustainability.

Benefits

The winner has the possibility of being selected to participate at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, providing unprecedented opportunities to engage with global decision makers from the public, corporate, media and academic sectors to strengthen and expand his/her model.

In addition, the winner will be eligible for a cash award of INR 800,000 from the Khemka Foundation and will be named ‘Khemka Fellow'.
